The history of SPOT

Since 1994 SPOT has been an exhibition platform for Danish and later on Nordic music. In more than 25 years SPOT has had a vital role in giving the stage to new talents and the new music and through the years many great names have taken their first musical steps at the festival in the heart of Aarhus.

SPOT Festival was created in 1994 as a collaboration between ROSA, Carlsberg Breweries, the newspaper JyllandsPosten and Roskilde Festival. Up until 2010 the festival was run by ROSA but after that SPOT was established as a self-owned institution in  continued collaboration with ROSA and MXD as the producing powers. From 2016 Promus became a partner and co-producer of the business professional knowledge and networking concept, SPOT +. Besides that, SPOT collaborates with a long line of local, national and international businesses, associations and institutions regarding the organization and running of the festival. With a target agreement with the Danish Arts Foundations project support committee and the municipality of Aarhus it is SPOTs mission and goal – as an international platform – to strengthen the development of new Danish music, nationally as well as internationally.

The music line-up has always embraced both debutantes and more established artists who are estimated to have a national or international interest for the music business, people working with culture and media. Below here you can slide through the many artists and bands which have been presented at SPOT throughout the years.
