Each year hundreds of great, enthusiastic and hardworking volunteers play a defining role in making sure that SPOT runs smoothly and professionally. At the same time, it is your job as a volunteer to spread the cheer and good vibes throughout the festival since you’re an important part of SPOTs communication and interactions with our guests.

When volunteering at SPOT, you have one day of work. The number of work hours can vary from assignment to assignment. You’ll have plenty of free time to enjoy the festival and the amazing atmosphere you’ve helped create.

Our volunteers are a collective and dedicated team – and without the amazing volunteer help, there would be no SPOT! You get full access to the festival and we make sure that you’re fed and comfortable during your shift, of course.

Volunteer roles at SPOT 2021

This year the different volunteer assignments have been divided into some overall categories so you can find out which type of shifts and tasks that fits you and your skills and interests. The concrete tasks is described in the categories below and as always we do our best to fulfill anyones wishes as much as possible.

And when on duty don’t forget to wear practical and weather-appropriate clothes and footwear! Save your party clothes and dancing shoes for later.

The Practical One

Preparation of the festival area, setting up fence, building scenes and other things, packing and cleaning up after the festival, kitchen duty, sweeping at night, sweeping during the daytime, stand-by

Are You handy by nature and not afraid to get your hands dirty, then the practical group is the right fit for you. Your shifts can take place all over the festival area for example in the kitchen or “on the floor” where you help ensure that everything runs smoothly before, during and after SPOT. Several of the shifts in this group take place before and after the music programme so if you’re interested in having tasks that don’t collide too much with the concerts then this volunteer group is the right one for you.

The Technical One

Stagehand, building scenes, fireguard, stand-by

Are you a technical genius or do you have a great basic understanding for the technical aspects of a festival then you are needed in our technical volunteer group. Both before and after SPOT there will be a need for volunteers with a technical understanding and a good overview of things to take the shifts as stagehands, fireguards and stage builders. You will be a part of the teams that make sure the technical things are working before the festival as well as making sure everything runs smoothly backstage.

The Serviceminded One

Ticket exchange, check-in, bandroom catering, taking care of the other volunteers, bar duty, kitchen duty, stand-by

Do you possess the big service gene and are you ready to make sure that guests, musicians and co-volunteers are well taken care of then look no further than this volunteer group. Here your focus is to make sure that things run smoothly, adding good service and a smile. Your shift could be exchanging tickets to wristbands, checking in musicians at the accreditation or making sure that the other volunteers don’t run out of snacks and water on their shifts.

The Social One

Do you thrive with making sure others have a great time in some comfortable settings and do you have an eye for creative solutions then you need in our social volunteer group? Here the work assignments could consist of making decorations for the different areas of the festival, making sure that your volunteer colleagues have a good time and overall just be ready to step in where you’re needed – always doing it with a smile. If you can see the possibilities in the different areas that are SPOT then this group is where you should be.

NB: If you have specific experience with IT, electricity, barservice or anything like that then please mention it in your volunteer application. In that way we make sure that your skills come to good use. And if you’re skilled in more than one thing then please make sure to mark it.
