One of the primary goals at SPOT+ is to give Danish music business people, composers, musicians and producers the possibility of expanding their network, creating new contacts and thereby strengthening their chance for new career opportunities.

That is why in a number of years we have arranged different targeted networking sessions and this year is no exception. At SPOT+ 2021 there will be three different “Meet The…”-sessions: Meet The Music Supervisors, Meet The Music Publishers and Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors.

Meet The Music Supervisors

Again this year we are ready with our almost “classical” speed meetings when we welcome a star team of music supervisors from Mexico City, Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto, London, Berlin and Copenhagen.

The target group is professional composers, music publishers, managers and labels.

Meet The Music Supervisors takes place Thursday, September 16th at 10.00-12.00 AM at the FO-Building, Vester Allé 8, Aarhus C. The arrangement is supported by FO-Aarhus’ Debatpulje.

Meet The Music Publishers

The well-known speed meeting format from Meet The Music Supervisors was tested at SPOT+ in 2019 with music publishers – and with great succes. That is why we make it a part of the programme once again during SPOT+ 2021.

Meet The Music Publishers takes place Friday, September 17th at 10:00-11.30 AM – Radisson BLU, Aarhus C.

The target group is producers, songwriters, bands, soloists, managements and labels.

Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors

Here we give young people from the music industry, film composers, producers and songwriters the opportunity to present their music to af panel of international music supervisors. And all in front of an audience.

We collect a short list of the recieved tracks which will be chosen by a jury. These tracks will then be presented to the panel who will give their feedback and comments. And who knows – there could be material which they can use!

Pitch Your Music To Music Supervisors takes place on Thursday, September 16th at 16.00 PM at Radisson BLU, Aarhus C.

The target group is producers, songwriters, film composers and sound designers.

The different networking sessions during SPOT+ is arranged by Promus in collaboration with SPOT Festival and are supported by Koda Culture and Danish Arts Foundation.

After a year with the world hidden behind masks and connected by the screen, we all long to meet in real life again. Look in each other’s eyes and look forward to better times for the music industry.

SPOT+ was, like so many other things, cancelled in 2020, but this September we’re back once again as one of the most important meeting places for the Danish and international music industry. And maybe even more important than ever. Because even though the business has been meeting digitally over the past 15 months, we all look forward to once again sitting in the same room for panels, debates, and seminars about the new tendencies and current subjects that are relevant for our business – and most importantly to meet in the real world to network.

With the headline “Talks – Insights – Networking – Inspiration” we open for the 6th version of SPOT+ on September 16th – 17th. Below here, you’ll get a taste of what this year’s programme will contain – and we can already say it’s taking form beautifully.

Let’s Talk Sync

Also a part of the SPOT+ classics – the yearly seminar with focus on current subjects within sync and music supervision.
This year, we once again hold an open-call for pitch in front of selected music supervisors and we’ll also get the story behind the music for the Oscar winner “Another Round” from the people behind. The movie composer Halfdan E. talks to music supervisor Lynn Fainchtein about her work with the music for movies like ”The Revenant”, ”Babel”, ”21 Grams”, ”Birdman” and ”Roma”.

The Future Perspectives of Sustainability in the Live Sector

Climate and sustainability has been on top of the agenda for quite some time – also in the music industry. But how do you implement the best sustainable strategies that can make the music experience a bit greener?
A line of people from Denmark, Norway, and England will debate this question and the seance will start off with a presentation from William Skeaping – co-editor for the Extinctions Rebellion-handbook, ‘This Is Not A Drill’.

Let’s Talk Germany

Our great neighbor in the south is still one of the largest music markets in the world – a market only a few hours drive away and which also has drawn many musicians and music business people to throughout the years. All the way back to Gitte Hænning and the schlager scene, to names like Laid Back, D.A.D and Hanne Boel, and up until today where names like Tina Dickow, Aura, Hugo Helmig and Efterklang fills the clubs and venues. Now a new generation is ready with names like Nicklas Sahl, Drew Sycamore, Dopha and Calby.

We have gathered a line of Danish and German business people to talk about what makes the german market so important and how you work best with your music in Germany.

Future Predictions

With a background from Spotify and brands like Red Bull and many years in the music industry, Josh Greenberg from Green Mountain Lodge, will give us a look into the musical crystal ball. It’s about trends, new formats and new possibilities to get the music out.

Spotify 10 years

This year it is ten years since Spotify made its way in Denmark – and it became a game-changer. Despite iTunes, YouTube and other digital music platforms Spotify has managed to become synonymous with streaming of music. And with access to almost the entire music catalogue in the world, we may have gotten a different approach to music – for better or worse. Because what impact has this had on our consumption of music?
Must we adapt the music to the format to avoid getting “skipped”, what does the future of listeting to music look like, and is the debate about fair sharing still relevant? These and probably many other questions, will be answered by a line of music business people and musicians, when we may celebrate Spotify’s tenth anniversary.

The famous music business journalist, debater, analyst and much more, Chris Cooke from CMU (Complete Music Update) frames a talk about the current subjects in the music industry – a sort of “round-up” of this year’s festival.
